A 66-year-old cyclist has died this Saturday morning, in Torrelavega (Cantabria), after being run over by a car whose driver has fled.

Sources from the Torrelavega City Council have told EFE that the accident occurred around 8:00 am on the CA-334 highway, which connects the capital of Besaya with Zurita (Piélagos).

There,

the driver of another vehicle found the bicycle lying on the road

and, next to it, the body of the deceased cyclist.

The Torrelavega Local Police, which is investigating the facts, has taken a statement from a person who could be related to what happened, although there are still no detainees, according to those same sources.

So far,

the car that caused the accident has been identified,

but, apparently, the person who was listed as the owner of the vehicle is no longer the same because she sold it two months ago.
