US Vice President Kamala Harris said that the United States does not seek confrontation with China, and that the two countries should cooperate on international issues and keep communication channels open.

The White House confirmed that Harris met with Chinese President Xi Jinping, yesterday, for a short period, on the sidelines of the “APEC” summit in Thailand, adding that Harris referred during the meeting to the important message that US President Joe Biden emphasized in his meeting on November 14 with the president. Xi, which is the need to keep the lines of communication open to responsibly manage the competition between the two countries.

The official Chinese Radio and Television confirmed that the meeting took place between Harris and Xi, and the authority said in a summary of the content of the meeting that the Chinese president made it clear that the meeting with President Biden in Bali, Indonesia, was strategic and constructive, and had great guiding importance for the next stage of relations between the two countries.

"We hope the two sides will work to enhance mutual understanding, reduce misunderstanding and misjudgment, and participate in strengthening Sino-US relations to return to a good and stable track," the Chinese president added.
