French Parliament Speaker Yael Brown-Bevy adjourned Thursday evening a plenary session of the legislature after a far-right deputy uttered racially insulting terms against a left-wing African-American.

Representative Insumi Carlos Martins Bilongo was asking the government about a migrant ship stuck in the Mediterranean, and wondered how France would deal with it, and whether it would invite other countries to participate in harboring these migrants.

Insumi Carlos Martens Bilongo added that these migrants are in a bad situation and need urgent rescue, especially with the forecast of bad weather in the coming days.

The racist statement sparked outrage among the deputies and government officials who attended the session (French press)

While the left-wing deputy was asking his question, the deputy of the far-right French National Rally party, Gregory de Fourna, shouted, "Go back to Africa," referring to the deputy asking the question.

This statement aroused anger among the representatives and government officials who attended the session, and the Speaker of Parliament was forced to suspend the session until tomorrow, Friday, "because of the seriousness of what was issued by the concerned representative."

And asked Yael Brown to include this issue in the agenda of the Parliament Office (which includes the heads of parliamentary blocs) next Wednesday to consider the possibility of punishing the offending MP.

The leftist "France Rebellion" party, to which MP Bilongo belongs, said in a tweet on Twitter that "the extreme right remains as it has always been racist and nauseating," and demanded "immediate punishment" for the offending lawmaker.
