American journalist Megan McArdle said that the return of former US President Donald Trump to the Twitter platform after billionaire Elon Musk took control of it forces journalists to unify the approach to dealing with his tweets, and prevent him from marketing his views as he wants.

Megan said, in an article in the Washington Post (Washington Post), that Trump's danger lies in that he knows how to anger journalists, and how to provoke them, explaining that he feels overjoyed when he sees the results of his tweets have turned into "news" promoted by angry journalists.

It's not news

She added that journalists should understand that what Trump says is nothing of the news, as his attacks on institutions and accusations of people cannot be news items for the press to work on.

She stressed that media organizations should establish a new tradition that ensures that the press treats Trump's tweets in the same way as random accounts that hardly anyone follows, and avoid giving Trump more volume than he is.

She explained that investigations conducted by American journalists proved that Trump's controversial tweets did not have a significant impact on his followers, and what the media did was only focus attention on the former president and draw the attention of millions to him.

But Megan, on the other hand, said that the media would cover what Trump would tweet if he announced a new policy, or revealed his plans to run for president, but while ignoring his many deliberate provocations.

She stated that the danger and error of being swayed by the ex-president's provocations should not be repeated, explaining that it is not an exaggeration to say that he ascended to the presidency on the shoulders of hundreds of journalists who continued to treat his statements as of pivotal importance.
