Xi Jinping re-elected as general secretary of the CPC Central Committee

The First Plenary Session of the 20th National Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) held today re-elected Xi Jinping as general secretary of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. Xi Jinping was also appointed chairman of the Central Military Commission of the Communist Party of China during the session.

The session, presided over by Chinese President Xi Jinping, was attended by 203 members of the 20th CPC Central Committee and 168 alternate members.

Members of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee were also elected during the session, which approved the members of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee nominated by the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee.
