A possible questioning of former US President Donald Trump before the committee of inquiry into the storming of the US Capitol should not be broadcast live on television, according to the committee vice chairmen.
Republican and Trump critic Liz Cheney told NBC News on Sunday that Trump would not be allowed to turn the survey into a "circus".
The committee is treating the matter with great seriousness and the questioning could take several days, she said.
If Trump fails to meet his legal obligation, the committee has "many, many alternatives" that he will consider.
Pelosi doesn't believe Trump will show up
The committee of inquiry had sent the ex-president a summons on Friday.
He is to hand over a large number of documents by November 4th and be available from November 14th for a multi-day questioning under oath.
It is still unclear whether Trump will follow the subpoena or take action against it.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi told MSNBC on Sunday that she didn't think Trump was "many enough" to appear before the committee.
The committee is investigating the incidents surrounding the US Capitol on January 6, 2021: Trump supporters stormed the US Parliament building immediately after the Republican appeared.
The then-President once again stirred up the crowd with false claims that his victory over challenger Joe Biden in the November 2020 election was stolen through fraud.
Five people died as a result of the attack.
