President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the formation of a coordinating council under the Russian government to meet the needs of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, as well as other troops and military formations during the special operation in Ukraine.

The document was published on the single portal of legal information.

It is noted that this body is being created to strengthen the coordination of the activities of federal and regional executive authorities.

The Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin has been appointed Chairman of the Council.

His deputies were Deputy Prime Minister, head of the government apparatus Dmitry Grigorenko and Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov.

The regulation on the coordinating council specifies that the issues of providing troops relate, among other things, to the supply and repair of weapons, military and special equipment, materiel, medical and sanitary services, repair and restoration, construction and installation and other works, as well as logistics.

The main tasks of the council will include making decisions on coordinating the activities of federal and regional executive authorities, resolving issues of providing troops with weapons, equipment and various resources, determining a target task for meeting the needs of the troops, forming an appropriate plan, determining the volume and directions of spending budget funds and control behind the process.

“Key areas for fulfilling the target include, among other things, the supply and repair of weapons, military and special equipment, materiel, medical and sanitary services, repair and restoration, construction and installation and other work, and logistics,” the document says. .

In addition, the coordinating council will resolve issues related to the formation of prices for goods and services necessary to meet the needs of the troops, prepare proposals for determining contractors and performers of these services, and control the supply of such goods and services.

The new body should assist in ensuring the creation of military infrastructure facilities and perform the tasks of coordinating the process of digitalization, automation and information and analytical support in the field of defense, including in terms of creating databases of mobilization resources.

The Council has the right to request the necessary materials, invite officials of executive authorities, local self-government bodies and representatives of organizations to its meetings, give them instructions and recommendations, create working groups on certain issues, as well as prepare and submit proposals to the president on issues requiring him solutions.

Meetings of the coordinating council will be held as needed, reports on its work will be submitted to the president on a weekly basis.
