The results of the legislative elections in

Sweden

were so close that it was necessary to wait for a counting of a few tens of thousands of votes to obtain a definitive result.

And the verdict is this:

the bloc formed by the right and the extreme right won, by a very small margin, a majority

.

Magdalena Andesson therefore announced this Wednesday during a press conference the defeat of her coalition, and, in the process, filed her resignation.

The right has “

a small majority, but a majority nonetheless.

(…) I will therefore ask tomorrow to be removed from my post as Prime Minister and the responsibility for the rest will be entrusted to the President of Parliament

”, she declared, after an extremely tight ballot, but “

clear enough to draw conclusions

,” in his words.

The first woman to lead Sweden, Magdalena Andersson also indicated that she wanted the country to be able to adopt a new government as soon as possible to face the challenges awaiting the country, such as the energy crisis which is affecting the whole of Europe. Europe.

As agreed by the right-wing coalition, it is their leader, the conservative Ulf Kristersson, who should get the job.

His coalition won 176 seats, including 73 for the far-right Sweden Democrats (SD), against 173 for the left-wing bloc led by the outgoing Prime Minister.

I will now focus on forming a new government that can deliver results, a government for all Swedes and all citizens

 ," Kristersson told reporters.

“

Thank you for the trust.

Now we will restore order in Sweden

!

 “, he posted on Facebook.

This victory could be synonymous with a new political era for Sweden, a country which must take over the rotating presidency of the European Union on January 1, and finalize its historic candidacy for NATO, also supported by the right.

And it is also a historic result for this country, because never has a government relied on this camp of the extreme right, which has become, with 20.6% of the vote, the second party in the country.

However, the other right-wing parties are hesitant to bring a member of the Democrats into government.

The most likely scenario, according to political scientists, is that the SD, although the biggest party of the four, only supports the government in parliament, without being directly part of it.
