In his statement, Governor General David Hurley noted that after the death of Queen Elizabeth II, "the crown completely and rightfully" passed to her son Prince Charles, who took the throne name Charles III.

“With heartfelt and humble love, we promise him faith and fidelity,” he concluded.

Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain died on September 8 at the age of 96.

Charles III was formally proclaimed King of Great Britain at the Council of Succession.
