As Japan's population ages and there are concerns about a shortage of caregivers, Governor Murai of Miyagi Prefecture visited Vietnam, which has sent the largest number of technical intern trainees to Japan, and called for training within the prefecture.

Governor Yoshihiro Murai of Miyagi Prefecture, who is visiting Vietnam, visited a training facility for people aiming to become technical intern trainees in the suburbs of Hanoi, the capital, on the 8th.

Vietnam is the country that sends the most technical intern trainees to Japan.

Miyagi Prefecture is expected to face a shortage of more than 13,700 nursing care workers in 2040 as the population ages.

Governor Murai observed a class in which Vietnamese young people learned about nursing care methods in Japanese, introduced the culture and traditions of Miyagi Prefecture, and called for practical training in the prefecture.

After the inspection, Governor Murai said, "As the population declines rapidly from now on, there will definitely be a shortage of human resources such as nursing care. I hear that there are many excellent trainees in Vietnam. I want to make up for it," he said.

However, recently the yen has depreciated against Vietnam's currency, the dong, and the dong-based income that technical intern trainees can earn is actually decreasing, so some trainees change their destination to Taiwan. Securing human resources is an issue.
