On February 2, on the occasion of the Jiachen Spring Festival celebrated by the people of China and Vietnam, Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and President of the State, and Nguyen Phu Trong, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, exchanged New Year congratulatory messages.

Xi Jinping said that 2023 is an epoch-making year in the history of China-Vietnam relations. The two sides have frequent high-level exchanges, political mutual trust has become more consolidated, development strategies have been accelerated, the potential for comprehensive cooperation is strong, people-to-people and cultural exchanges are sound and impressive, and traditional friendship has become stronger over time.
