The U.S. Department of Justice said on September 8, local time, that it will appeal a ruling by District Judge Erin Cannon ordering the appointment of a special director to review the records seized by the FBI at Mar-a-Lago.

It is reported that Cannon approved Trump's request to appoint a special director on the 5th, but the Justice Department objected to the ruling.

The Justice Department noted that an independent review of the matter was unnecessary.

In addition, prosecutors believe that the appointment of a special director will hinder related criminal investigations as well as the intelligence services' ongoing national security risk analysis.
