The municipality has taken far too long to implement a decision that gave a resident the right to assistance in the form of housing with special services, according to the law on support and services for certain disabled people (LSS), the inspectorate believes.

According to the Swedish Health and Care Inspectorate (IVO), the unreasonable delay must have lasted from 18 May 2021 to 13 February 2022, the day before the disabled person received the intervention.

Piteå municipality has stated in a statement that there has been a shortage of housing, but IVO believes that lack of space can not make the delay less serious.

“The main rule is that decisions on action according to LSS must be implemented immediately.

However, a certain delay in executing certain types of measures may be considered acceptable ", writes the inspectorate in its claim to the administrative court.
