The Italian European champion (in 9.80), crowned in the 100m and 4x100m last summer at the Tokyo Olympics, is "expected on the track in the 100m" during this eighth stage of the Diamond League, underlined the Italian Athletics Federation (Fidal), relaying in a press release an announcement from the organizers of the Swedish meeting.

Quoted by his federation, the 27-year-old sprinter claims to be "looking forward to competing" on June 30.

The entourage of Jacobs, contacted by AFP, confirmed his presence in Stockhom and specified that no decision had however yet been taken on a possible participation on Saturday in the Italian Championships in Rieti.

The double Olympic champion is currently among the registered, but subject.

Since his unexpected titles in Tokyo, after which he ended his season, Jacobs has only competed in two 100m races, on May 18 in Savona (Italy).

He then forfeited the stages of the Diamond League in Eugene (United States), Rome and Oslo due to a small elongation diagnosed on May 23, now completely cured according to his federation.

On the sidelines of the Rome meeting on June 9, he said he hoped to be able to play "one or two competitions" by the Worlds, also scheduled for Eugene.

"But if that's not possible, we will go to Eugene with the will to do the best we can," he added.
