The result means that Boris Johnson remains in his post as party chairman of his party, the Conservative Party (Tories), and will remain the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.

He also avoids being faced with new no-confidence votes for at least one season.

The no-confidence vote was held after a sufficient number of MPs - 54 out of a total of 359 - in Johnson's party, the Conservative Party (Tories), backed and demanded a unanimous vote on whether he should remain in office.

"Partygate"

Johnson's Prime Ministerial Office has been marked by the so-called "Partygate" scandal after it was revealed how various events and festivities were arranged at the Government Offices in 10 Downing Street during the corona pandemic.
