The threshold of 54 letters of defiance was reached last week.

This is what Graham Brady, the chairman of the 1922 committee, in charge of internal questions for the parliamentary party, announced on Monday morning.

Fifty-four Conservative MPs, or 15% of the party's elected officials, withdrew their confidence in the leader, Boris Johnson, resulting in a vote being held on Monday evening, between 7 and 9 p.m. Paris time.

The authors of the letters are under no obligation to make themselves known to the public.
