On June 1, Gazprom confirmed the cessation of gas supplies to the Danish company Ørsted due to non-payment in rubles.

As Barbin recalled, the cessation of supplies was a necessary measure.

“At the same time, Ørsted does not intend to stop buying gas, planning to buy it on the European market.

This means that Russian natural gas will continue to be purchased by Denmark, but not directly from Gazprom.

As a result, its price for Danish consumers - the population, social infrastructure facilities, businesses - will increase significantly, ”the diplomat said in a comment.

Barbin also stressed that the settlement procedure proposed by Russia is designed to eliminate "the possibility of theft by unfriendly states of Russian assets."

As Danish professor of energy planning at Aalborg University Brian Wad Mathiesen noted, the current energy crisis in Europe could turn into a catastrophe amid the cessation of Russian gas supplies to those companies that refuse to pay for energy resources under the new conditions.
