Sweden is set to become the 32nd member state of NATO. Russia is threatening NATO without being specific.

The Kremlin is trying to portray the Alliance as the aggressor. Sweden's Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson reacted calmly. According to polls, a majority of Swedes support their country joining NATO. The decision to join NATO was made for the Swedes, not for Russia, says Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova. "The real cause lies abroad. It is not the Swede themselves who make this choice," she says.
