At least
three people have died
and four others have been injured (two in critical condition) in a new attack in
Israel
at the end of the festive day on the occasion of the 74th anniversary of its independence.
According to initial reports, two Palestinians attacked bystanders with
a firearm and an ax
in the city of
Elad in central Israel
before fleeing in a car.
While the anti-terrorist unit of the Israeli Police began the search for the suspects, the mayor of Elad,
Israel Porush,
asked its inhabitants, who are mostly
ultra-Orthodox,
to exercise maximum caution in the face of the possibility of new attacks: "Close the doors of their homes to avoid more victims and pray for the injured".
"The terrorists came to a city square,
killed an elderly man and then went to a park where families were
and continued killing. It seems that the Arabs knew the place,"
Israel Jaoibi,
a resident of Elad, told
Channel 12 .
.
18 people have been killed in
six terror attacks
since the end of March in Israel.
Like the previous attacks, the Islamist group Hamas has applauded this Thursday night, pointing out that it is the response to "the aggression against the
Al Aqsa mosque."
