city of Irfin, about 20 km northwest of Kiiu, the capital of Ukraine.

Irfin city Mayor Markusin said on social media that "I have good news" and "Irfin has been completely liberated."

The Russian army tried to surround Kiiu from the north, east and west, but the Ukrainian army succeeded in stopping it.

In addition, Mayor Marcusin said that Irfin would be a base for a counterattack and said that he would retake neighboring cities such as Bucha and Borzel one after another.

As Ukrainian forces push Russians out of town, Kiiu has eased curfews and reopened some schools.

Meanwhile, Ukraine and Russia are holding their fifth round of negotiations in Turkey today.

Prior to the negotiations, President Zelensky announced yesterday that he was willing to compromise on the territorial and neutralization issues in the eastern Donbas region.

Ukraine, however, maintains that it cannot accept Russia's claims of 'de-Naziisation', which means demilitarization and the resignation of the Zelensky regime.

"So far, no progress has been made in the negotiations," Russia said in a statement.
