Russian military personnel have liberated another settlement in the Donetsk People's Republic.

The press service of the Russian Ministry of Defense reported this in its report from the Northern Military District zone.

“In the Donetsk direction, as a result of successful active actions by units of the Southern Group of Forces, the village of Vesyoloye of the Donetsk People’s Republic was liberated,” the message says.

At the end of 2023, the assault troops of the Southern Group completely liberated Marinka (DPR).

Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu announced this on December 25 at a meeting with President Vladimir Putin.

In addition, in the Donetsk direction over the past 24 hours, aviation and artillery defeated the manpower and equipment of the 22nd, 42nd, 93rd mechanized brigades of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the areas of the village.

In the Kupyansk direction, units of the Western Group of Forces, in cooperation with artillery and aviation, repelled six attacks by assault groups of the 32nd, 60th mechanized and 95th airborne brigades of the Ukrainian Armed Forces near the village.

The enemy lost up to 155 military personnel, two tanks, three armored combat vehicles, two cars and the Gvozdika self-propelled gun.

In the Krasnolimansky direction, units of the Center group of troops, supported by air strikes and artillery fire, repelled three attacks by formations of the 63rd mechanized, 25th airborne brigades of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the 5th brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine near the village.

Enemy losses amounted to more than 220 military personnel, six armored combat vehicles, including a Bradley infantry fighting vehicle, four vehicles, a US-made M777 artillery system, a Gvozdika self-propelled gun, a US-made M119 howitzer, and an electronic warfare station.

In the South Donetsk direction, coordinated actions of units of the Vostok group of troops in cooperation with aviation and artillery repelled an attack by the assault group of the 79th Airborne Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine not far from the village.

At the same time, the formations of the 72nd mechanized brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the 128th military defense brigade were defeated in the area of ​​the village.

The enemy lost more than 130 troops, two vehicles, two British-made FH-70 howitzers, as well as a Polish-made Krab self-propelled artillery mount.

In the Zaporozhye direction, units of the Russian group of troops inflicted fire damage on the personnel and equipment of the 33rd mechanized, 82nd air assault, 128th mountain assault brigades of the Ukrainian Armed Forces near the village.

The losses of the Ukrainian Armed Forces amounted to up to 30 military personnel, a tank, three vehicles, as well as two howitzers: D-20 and D-30.

In the Kherson direction, as a result of fire damage to Ukrainian Armed Forces units, the enemy lost up to 65 military personnel, three tanks and five vehicles.

During the counter-battery fight, the US-made M777 artillery system, three howitzers: Giatsint-B, Msta-B and D-20, as well as the Gvozdika self-propelled artillery mount were hit.

Defeat foreign mercenary points

Over the past 24 hours, the Russian military has hit various targets of the Kyiv regime troops, including two points of temporary deployment of foreign mercenaries.

This follows from the daily report of the Russian Ministry of Defense from the Northern Military District zone.

“Missile forces and artillery, strike unmanned aerial vehicles from groups of troops of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation hit two points of temporary deployment of foreign mercenaries, four warehouses of missiles and ammunition, 117 artillery units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in firing positions, manpower and military equipment in 133 regions,” it says in the message.

It is also indicated that air defense systems shot down two Tochka-U tactical missiles, a US-made JDAM guided bomb, as well as 18 missiles from the US-made HIMARS and Czech-made Vampire multiple launch rocket systems.

In addition, 91 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles were destroyed in the DPR and LPR, Zaporozhye, Kharkov and Kherson regions.

The day before, the defense department reported that on the evening of January 16, the Russian Armed Forces carried out a high-precision strike on the temporary deployment point of foreign fighters in the city of Kharkov, the majority of whom were French mercenaries.

As a result of the strike, the building in which the “soldiers of fortune” were stationed was completely destroyed.

More than 60 militants were killed, over 20 were taken to medical institutions.

At the same time, the chief editor of the Donbass Insider website, Christelle Nehan, spoke on RT about information confirmed by sources that many militants speaking French were admitted to hospitals.

Foreigners appeared in the Armed Forces of Ukraine back in 2014, among other things, in Azov* and Right Sector**, which are banned in the Russian Federation,” she said.

In turn, the coordinator of the Nikolaev underground, Sergei Lebedev, with reference to local underground fighters, told RIA Novosti that among the liquidated mercenaries were curators of the “Russian Volunteer Corps”***.
