Britain records record daily cases of corona, exceeding 129,000

Britain on Tuesday recorded record new infections with the emerging coronavirus (Covid-19), which reached 129,471, a day after Prime Minister Boris Johnson said he would not impose new restrictions to curb the spread of the virus this year.

The data recorded today did not include the number of injuries in Scotland and Northern Ireland due to differences in registration methods during the Christmas period.

With regard to Wales' 12,378 injuries, it included data that was supposed to be announced in the previous days.

Johnson said on Monday he would not impose new restrictions in England.

While Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are tightening restrictions, as other European countries are facing a jump in infections of the Omicron strain.
