The Commissioner mistakenly believes that RT DE is geographically located in Berlin.
The channel broadcasts from Moscow studios under a license issued by Serbia.
Schmid noted that the new RT channel is irritating, adding that "it will be taken care of."
The Commissioner is currently trying to use his powers to put pressure on independent European satellite TV operators to stop broadcasting RT DE.
“We regard such actions on his part as not only unreasonable, but also frankly dishonorable.
Not to mention the fact that the legal rights of RT DE have been violated, ”the RT press service said in a statement.
On December 16, RT launched a new 24-hour German-language news channel, RT DE, which will broadcast live news, talk shows and documentaries.
Shortly after the launch, YouTube deleted the account of the new RT DE channel, RT auf Sendung.
Google said that the RT auf Sendung channel was removed due to an alleged violation of the terms of use of the platform, namely, because of the circumvention of the restrictions already imposed.
RT editor-in-chief Margarita Simonyan, after the removal of the YouTube channel RT auf Sendung, said that the channel had never faced such restrictions and attempts to prevent it from going on air as in Germany.
