Earthquake in Indonesia and a devastating tsunami warning

An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.3 struck eastern Indonesia on Tuesday, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said, causing a potentially destructive tsunami.

The earthquake, which the American Geophysical Institute said occurred about 100 kilometers north of the town of Maumere at a depth of 18.5 kilometers (11 miles) in the Flores Sea, could cause dangerous tsunamis along coasts up to 1,000 kilometers (600 miles) from earthquake epicenter.
