Panic reigns in a fast sleeper train after a false alarm about a "drunk" bomb for a strange reason

Panic and turmoil reigned on the New Delhi-Karnataka Express train Tuesday evening after police received a call about a bomb on the train.

Notably, a man in Agra made a phone call to Indian Railways saying that a bomb had been planted on a Bengaluru-bound train.

After receiving the call, alerted the railway protection force who immediately pressed a police dog for service, and dispatched personnel with hand-held metal detectors to check the baggage of all passengers.

The police woke the passengers who were sleeping peacefully and checked every carriage on the train.

The express train was also stopped for 25 minutes during the night and was thoroughly checked.

Mathura (city) police inspector Martand Prakash Singh said on Wednesday that the train was given the green light to start only after the GRP was convinced there was nothing suspicious.

And later it turned out that the call was a hoax!

According to police investigations, the accused is a person named Satyanand, who made a phone call to the railway helpline 139 because he was dissatisfied with the behavior of the catering staff towards his brother.

A police official said that the call was transferred to the control room of the Railway Protection Force, which in turn relayed the information to the concerned teams.

"Since Satyanand was very drunk, he will be questioned later," a state railways official said, adding that he was arrested from a night shelter on Aruna Asaf Ali Road in Delhi.
