The suspect is from Gothenburg and is in his 30s.

He was arrested in the city of Thessaloniki on Friday, something that the newspaper GT was the first to report.

- He has been found a lot thanks to the FAST team, which is the part of NOA that is looking for wanted people, Markus Karlsson tells SVT Nyheter Väst.

Intelligence work behind the arrest

The man has been in international demand since last month.

It is mainly intelligence work that is behind the arrest, just as it was intelligence work that was behind the Swedish Customs' discovery of 1,200 kilos of cannabis resin in stone slabs shipped in containers from Morocco this spring.

According to Markus Karlsson, the man has had a position high up in the hierarchy in the loosely composed organization that was behind the smuggling.

- His role in this story is a bit difficult to define.

But he is not a recipient, but has been higher up in the criminal organization than those who were prosecuted and convicted before, says Markus Karlsson.

- It was he who was missing after the others were convicted, he adds.

If the man does not oppose extradition to Sweden, he can be here in a couple of weeks.

Otherwise, it may take months.
