British Museum gets new director after series of thefts under Hartwig Fischer. 2000 smaller objects were stolen from the depot in the London museum.

After he resigned as museum director, a new boss has now been chosen. Nicholas Cullinan has headed the National Portrait Gallery in the British capital since 2015. He succeeds Fischer, who resigned last August because of the thefts. and has worked as a curator at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and the Tate Modern in London. The British Museum is one of the most renowned museums in the world.
