British Museum gets new director after series of thefts under Hartwig Fischer. 2000 smaller objects were stolen from the depot in the London museum.
After he resigned as museum director, a new boss has now been chosen. Nicholas Cullinan has headed the National Portrait Gallery in the British capital since 2015. He succeeds the German art historian who resigned last August because of the thefts.. The British Museum is one of the most renowned museums in the world. Its collection includes around eight million objects, including Egyptian mummies.
