“I have announced a state of emergency in response to the Ida Tropical Depression,” Northam tweeted.
He clarified that heavy rains and possible flooding are expected in western Virginia.
Earlier it was reported that more than 1.1 million people were left without electricity due to Hurricane Ida in the American states of Louisiana and Mississippi.
