TASS informs about this with reference to the press center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

The report says that the ministry, as part of the digital transformation program, is taking measures to develop information systems and consolidate data about citizens.

The implementation of these measures will reduce the time required for issuing passports.

"In this regard, from July 1, 2022, a new passport will be issued within five working days, regardless of place of residence, stay, actual residence or circumstances of its replacement," the department said.

It is noted that these approaches will be retained with the introduction of a passport with an electronic carrier.

Now the period for issuing a passport is from ten to 30 days.

Earlier it was reported that the validity of passports, which are subject to replacement when a citizen reaches the age of 20 and 45, was extended to 90 days.
