On June 15, the verdict was handed down in the high-profile mass murder trial in Blekinge District Court, after the murder of a 57-year-old man in Karlskrona last summer.

The district court sentenced the 22-year-old man who carried out the murder to life in prison.

The 23-year-old man who then dismembered the body was sentenced to 18 years in prison.

Both were convicted of murder and breach of the peace.

The fact that the 23-year-old received a milder punishment was due to the fact that he was helpful in the investigation, among other things by pointing out the burial site and murder weapons.

Appeals the district court's judgment

Late on Thursday, prosecutor Anna Johansson's appeal came to Blekinge District Court.

She also wants to see the 23-year-old man sentenced to life in prison for the murder.

Something that BLT was the first to tell about.

On Friday, the 23-year-old's lawyer Eric Widner informs SVT that he has not yet decided what to do.

The 22-year-old lawyer Karl Hamstedt, who has been sentenced to life imprisonment, has previously announced that he will also appeal the district court's ruling.

- We at least want the question of sanction tried because I have argued for a fixed-term sentence.

For example, I do not think that the planning was at all as far-reaching and detailed as the prosecutor wanted to claim, Karl Hamstedt told SVT.

In the clip, the district court's lawyer tells about how the district court reasoned in its judgment.
