German Foreign Minister considers the imposition of EU sanctions against Belarus inevitable

“I believe that additional sanctions against Belarus are inevitable,” RIA Novosti quoted him as saying in an interview with Welt.

Maas noted that restrictive measures could affect such areas of the Belarusian economy as the potash industry or the energy sector.

“We must also deprive the government in Minsk of the opportunity to raise funds within the EU by issuing government bonds,” added the German Foreign Minister.

Earlier, Belgian Foreign Minister Sophie Vilmes held talks with ex-presidential candidate Svetlana Tikhanovskaya ahead of the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the European Union.
