The headquarters of the Qatar Red Crescent in the Gaza Strip was bombed by the Israeli occupation forces this evening, Monday, killing two Palestinians and wounding 10 others.

In a statement, the Qatar Red Crescent condemned the targeting of its headquarters in the Gaza Strip, stressing the need to allow relief teams to work in accordance with international humanitarian law.

The Qatar Red Crescent considered that targeting its teams and headquarters is a violation of international humanitarian law, stressing that it continues to provide relief aid to those affected in the Gaza Strip in cooperation with the Palestinian Red Crescent.

The Secretary-General of the Qatar Red Crescent, Ambassador Ali bin Hassan Al Hammadi, said that what the Red Crescent office in the Strip was subjected to is a flagrant violation of the various charters, customs and the four Geneva Conventions and their additional protocols according to what was ratified in 1951 by Israel.

Al-Hammadi added that what happened today of the grave violation of the headquarters of the Qatari Red Crescent, which operates under the umbrella of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and with the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, is a violation of the right of medical teams and the right of internationally recognized humanitarian and relief work. It amounts to war crimes and crimes against humanity.

Qatar condemns

For its part, the State of Qatar has expressed its strong condemnation and condemnation of the Israeli occupation forces' bombing of the Qatar Red Crescent building in the besieged Gaza Strip.

A statement by the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicated that the bombing of the Red Crescent headquarters coincided with the damage to parts of Hamad Bin Khalifa Hospital for Prosthetics and Rehabilitation as a result of the continuous attacks on buildings surrounding the hospital, as was previously the targeting of the Al-Galaa building, which includes a number of media institutions, including Al-Jazeera offices in the Gaza Strip .

The statement affirmed that targeting humanitarian and media institutions is a flagrant violation of international law and human norms and values, stressing that the State of Qatar will spare no effort in supporting the just Palestinian cause.
