The technically defective device was in a wooden tool shed that caught fire first.
The flames then caught - also fanned by the wind - the neighboring house of the family of four in the Karow district.
A 41-year-old resident suffered minor injuries when attempting to extinguish the fire on Sunday afternoon.
The woman and her 10 and 14 year old children were able to save themselves unharmed.
The house was badly destroyed, the total damage estimated at 400,000 euros.
Five fire brigades were on duty and could only prevent other houses from being hit by the fire.
