Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - With the conclusion in North Rhine-Westphalia in the back, employers and trade union now also want to bring the metal collective bargaining to an end in the southwest.

After returning from Düsseldorf, the leaders of IG Metall Baden-Württemberg and Südwestmetall met on Tuesday afternoon to negotiate a takeover of the agreement.

In North Rhine-Westphalia the parties had agreed on a collective agreement last night which, among other things, enables working hours to be reduced in return for partial wage compensation.

In addition to a corona bonus of 500 euros this year, the agreement provides for permanent special payments from 2022, which can be used in companies with employment problems for financial compensation when working hours are reduced.

How quickly IG Metall and Südwestmetall can come to an agreement is open.

That depends, among other things, on how quickly the sticking points specific to Baden-Württemberg can be worked through.

A group of experts has already done a lot of preparatory work in the past few days.

Both sides praised the agreements reached in North Rhine-Westphalia and expressed confidence at the start of their talks.

"We have no obligation to reach an agreement, but a very serious willingness to reach agreement," said IG Metall district manager Roman Zitzelsberger.

It would be good not to need the whole night again, said Südwestmetall boss Wilfried Porth, who, like Zitzelsberger, was involved in the agreement.

"But if we need the night, we have time for the night too," he said.
