With 300,000 victims of the coronavirus and more than 2,000 deaths in the past 24 hours, Brazil is experiencing the worst moment of the health crisis.

A year after the start of the pandemic, President Jair Bolsonaro changed hands on Wednesday March 24 and created a committee to coordinate the fight against the virus.

On the same day, activists from the NGO Rio de Paz demonstrated in front of a referral hospital in the fight against the epidemic in Rio to demand more efforts.

In front of the Ronaldo Gazolla hospital, thirty beds are stretched out on the floor.

On the sheets rests a rose and in the hands of the demonstrators, a word declined in several languages: “

The world is looking at Brazil with fear

“

No nation is as badly led as Brazil during this pandemic

, deplores Antônio.

The world looks at Brazil with fear, because of the very bad example of the President of the Republic.

Antônio Carlos Costa is the president of the NGO Rio de Paz ("Rio de paix"), which calls for the demonstration on Wednesday March 24th.

Beside him, Márcio do Nascimento wears a t-shirt with the photo of his 25-year-old son, Ugo: he died of the coronavirus last year in this hospital.

“

It's very difficult, because this is where I saw my son for the last time

,” explains Márcio, his voice trembling with emotion.

I must have recognized him in a bag, I couldn't hug him, kiss him, I couldn't put clothes on him…
