China News Agency, Washington, March 16 (Reporter Chen Mengtong) The White House Press Secretary Psaki confirmed to the media on the 15th that the United States has contacted North Korea, but the North Korean side has not yet responded.

Psaki made the above remarks at the White House press conference held that day.

US media recently reported that the US has tried to contact the North Korean government through multiple channels since mid-February, but received no response.

"I can confirm that the U.S. has contacted the DPRK." Psaki said that the U.S. has always had multiple channels for contacting the DPRK. "We can communicate through these channels."

She said that despite the US's repeated attempts to contact North Korea, the two sides have been unable to conduct effective dialogue for more than a year.

Psaki pointed out that the priority of the US on the Korean Peninsula issue is still to seek a diplomatic solution, and the goal is to reduce the risk of escalation.

She said that the Biden administration is currently consulting with former government officials who have participated in the formulation of the DPRK policy, and will continue to solicit opinions from Japan and South Korea on the DPRK policy and explore new ways.

US Secretary of State Blincol and Secretary of Defense Austin visited Japan and South Korea from the 15th to the 18th.

The State Department’s Acting Assistant Secretary of State for East Asia and Pacific Affairs Kim Sung said on the 12th that Brinken will discuss the North Korean nuclear issue with senior Japanese and South Korean officials during his visit. The United States’ commitment to pursuing the complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula has not changed.
