After the accident, the driver departed from the scene and was not there when the police arrived.

A dog patrol was therefore sent out because there was a concern that he had fallen down on a nearby railway track.

After a while, however, a patrol could find him walking along the E4, bleeding from his mouth and with torn clothes.

The man was arrested and initially suspected of, among other things, negligence in traffic.

Now, however, it has emerged that the truck was stolen and the man is suspected of a number of serious crimes.

The criminal classifications are aggravated drunk driving, aggravated negligence in traffic, aggravated use of means of subsistence, minor drug offenses, illegal driving and infection from a traffic accident.

Witness injured

- I do not know if there was any load in the car.

However, the truck must have been stolen from somewhere in Sweden, it is unclear exactly where, says Mikael Hedström, press spokesperson at the police.

A witness to the accident is also said to have been injured when he got out of his car at the accident site and slipped and fell into the ditch on the E4.

In connection with this, the person must have broken his arm or injured his shoulder and was taken to hospital.

- The man has not been arrested right now, says Mikael Hedström.
