A school bus crossed into oncoming traffic in the US state of Illinois and collided with a truck. Both drivers and three small children were killed.

"Such a loss is devastating. It's a tragedy. The small community speaks of a tragedy," says the head of the local police department. The exact cause of the accident should now be investigated. The district's schools canceled classes on Tuesday and Wednesday. The accident happened near the town of Rushville, about 350 kilometers southwest of Chicago. The driver of the truck, a 72-year-old man, was also killed.
