It was at the beginning of September last year that a personal assistant was killed at the home of a patient in Trollhättan.

A couple of days after the murder, a female colleague in her 40s was arrested on suspicion of murder.

A woman is now sentenced to 18 years in prison for murder.

This was announced by Vänersborg District Court.

Money behind the motif

The woman was also charged with aggravated theft, fraud and causing danger - crimes that according to the prosecutor must have taken place in connection with the murder.

According to the investigation, the motive behind the murder must be money.

- I mean that the now accused woman came to the apartment during the night and had her colleague killed.

Then she took the user's wallet and phone and withdrew money from the user's account.

As an employee, she had the code to be able to carry out transactions from the account, says chief prosecutor Daniel Edsbagge.

Denied a crime

The now convicted woman has always denied any wrongdoing and says in interrogation that she does not remember any details because she drank during the evening.

But she says she was forced to the scene by two men to whom she owed money.

- My client denies the crime.

She believes that two men forced her to the home where she became an eyewitness to the horrible thing, said the woman's lawyer Per-Åke Kvarnström.
