Lazio Rome struggled with its recent qualification in the knockout stages of the Champions League, the first in 20 years, and lost Saturday at home (2-1) against Hellas Verona, on the 11th day of the Serie AT.

Like other clubs engaged in C1, the Romans ended up paying in the league for the accumulation of matches in recent weeks.

With this fourth setback of the season, Simone Inzaghi's players miss the opportunity to get closer to European places and fall back to 8th place, overtaken by their evening opponents who climb to 6th position.

The Véronais opened the scoring before the break thanks to a volley from Federico Dimarco deflected in his own camp by Manuel Lazzari (1-0, 45th).

Felipe Caicedo equalized after a good sequence, control and pivoting 1-1, 56th).

But Hellas regained the advantage by the French Adrien Tameze, winner of his face-to-face with laziale goalkeeper Pepe Reina (2-1, 67th).

- Tribute to Paolo Rossi -

The meeting began with a tribute to the 1982 world champion and Ballon d'Or, Paolo Rossi, who died this week at the age of 64 and whose funeral took place this Saturday.

A minute of silence was observed by the players gathered around the central circle where a giant portrait of the former striker was displayed.

"Heroes never die" and "Ciao Paolo" messages also appeared on giant screens and billboards at the stadium.

Earlier, Torino, beaten in the derby against Juventus last weekend, lost again to Udinese at home (3-2) after a game with twists and turns.

The Turinese were led 2-0 before equalizing in the second period, then losing on a goal from Ilija Nestorovski (69th).

They temporarily drop to second-to-last place while their opponents climb into the Top 10.

In the afternoon, the red lantern Crotone had finally won his first game of the season by winning at home 4-1 against La Spezia (16th).

The promoted remain despite everything in last place, but a small point behind Torino.
