Berlin / Mainz (dpa) - At the end of her deliberations on the consequences of the corona pandemic for school lessons, the President of the Conference of Ministers of Education (KMK), Stefanie Hubig (SPD), presented the results today.

The Rhineland-Palatinate Education Minister has repeatedly spoken out in favor of holding on to teaching in the class and course community as long as possible.

The majority of the ministerial round continue to take this line, it was said on the first day of the video conference from participants.

There should be a change from face-to-face and distance learning in individual regions with particularly high numbers of infections.

According to reports, the final decision on further measures for school teaching should not lie with the education ministers, but rather be reserved for the conference of the prime ministers.

The agenda for the two-day video conference chaired by Hubig also included preparations for the Standing Scientific Commission of the Conference of Ministers of Education.

In addition, the participants in the KMK meeting wanted to deal with the need to recruit teachers by 2020 and look at model calculations from the federal states.

Finally, the Brandenburg Education Minister Britta Ernst (SPD) should also be elected KMK President for the coming year.
