The foreign ministers' meeting of the G7 = seven major countries was held in Germany, and Italy, the presiding officer, requested that the Russian authorities explain the cause of death following the death of Russian opposition leader Navalny, who was imprisoned in prison. The chairman issued a statement that included demands for a complete clarification.

The G7 Foreign Ministers' Meeting was held on the 17th in Munich, Germany, in conjunction with the Munich Security Conference, which gathers world leaders and ministers, and was attended by Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs Funakoshi from Japan. .



At the beginning of the meeting, attendees held a minute's silence in honor of Navalny, the Russian opposition leader who died in prison.



After the meeting, Foreign Minister Tajani of Italy, which holds the G7 Presidency, issued a Chairman's Statement summarizing the results of the meeting.



In the statement, the G7 expressed its outrage at Navalny's death and called on the Russian authorities to fully clarify the cause of his death.



We also call on Russia to end its systematic suppression of freedom of expression and unjustified restrictions on civil rights, saying that the persecution of political dissent is unacceptable.



On the other hand, the statement also agreed to continue providing support to Ukraine, ahead of the two-year anniversary of the start of Russia's military invasion on the 24th of this month. They also confirmed that they will accelerate efforts toward concluding a security agreement.
