To respond to the worsening of the Covid-19 epidemic, the health protocol will be strengthened in high schools, which will be able to switch to more distance lessons provided they keep at least 50% of face-to-face lessons, announced Thursday evening the Minister of Education.

And to take into account the consequences of the crisis on the preparation of the baccalaureate, Jean-Michel Blanquer has also announced adaptations, in particular the cancellation of the joint evaluation tests of Première and Terminale in favor of continuous assessment.

Since the return from the All Saints holidays, discontent has risen to denounce a health protocol deemed, by many, insufficient in high schools with often crowded classes.

The measures in place since the start of the school year "

are obviously more difficult to apply in high school, where student movements are more numerous and more frequent, and the organization of school catering more complex

", admits the minister in a letter sent to school heads, after consulting the trade unions.

In order to limit the risk of

contagion from the virus

, "

it is now necessary for each high school to establish an educational continuity plan, implemented until the next school holidays, which guarantees at least 50% of face-to-face teaching for each student

", he asks.

“

All students must work for all of their regular school time, whether in class, in virtual classes or independently,

” he explains.

But each establishment can organize itself as it wishes by favoring "

reception in half-groups, reception by level or remote work one or two days a week

 ".

Mr. Blanquer asks that "

particular attention be paid to vocational high schools for which the implementation of distance education is made more complex

".

At the same time, "

to take into account the consequences of the health crisis on the conditions of preparation for the general and technological baccalaureate

", the Minister also decided on measures, "

on an exceptional basis

", for this year 2020-2021, which should fully enter into force the new bin.

The common evaluations (formerly called E3C) planned in Première and Terminale will be canceled and replaced by the continuous assessment thanks to the taking into account of the grades of the school report.

This measure concerns history-geography, modern languages, and the specialty that is not pursued in Terminale, as well as mathematics for the technological path and scientific education for the general path.

The final exams on specialty courses scheduled for next March will be maintained but their modalities adapted.
