An explosion in Tehran causes a death toll and extensive material losses

A person was killed and many buildings and cars were damaged as a result of an explosion, the causes of which were not clear, on Friday evening at a battery factory in Tehran province, according to local news agencies.

Mehr and Tasnim agencies reported that the explosion occurred in Naseem Shahr, southwest of the Iranian capital.

Tasnim quoted the official of the local fire department, Iraj Turkmani, as saying that the explosion caused "complete destruction of the battery plant, and led to the death of one person and the loss of another limb," indicating that its causes are not yet clear, and investigations are underway to determine them.
