One person was killed and 10 others were injured today, Friday, as a result of an explosion - the causes of which have not been clear yet - in a battery operator in Tehran province, and caused damage to many buildings and cars, according to the official Iranian news agency "IRNA".

"IRNA" quoted the official of the local fire department, Iraj Turkmani, as saying that the explosion occurred in the ground floor of a 3-storey building.

He explained that the fire caused by the explosion was so severe that one of the workers died instantly, and 10 residents of the 25 apartments that make up the building were slightly injured, indicating that more than 20 cars and some neighboring buildings were damaged in the explosion.

For his part, the head of the General Department for Crisis Management in Tehran Province, Mansour Darajati, said in statements to the official TV channel, that a malfunction in a cutting torch may have caused the explosion.

In the past months, a series of fires and explosions have been recorded in military and civilian sites in different parts of Iran, the most prominent of which was an explosion in a health center in Tehran in late June, killing 19 people.

The last of these incidents dates back to the fourth of September, when more than 200 people were injured when a chlorine gas bottle carried on a truck exploded in the village of Zujaira Alia in the Jaradol district in the western province of Elam.
