The child was transported "in absolute emergency" to the Mercy hospital in Metz. On Wednesday evening, a 5-year-old boy was knocked down and seriously injured in Metz by a car, the driver of which fled and was still wanted on Thursday morning.

The boy was hit around 8:30 p.m. by a car in the Queuleu district, the Department of Public Security (DDSP) in Moselle was told. The police could not specify at this stage of the investigation whether the child was on a sidewalk or on the roadway at the time of the accident.
