The coronavirus crisis has got the better of the presidential election in Poland ... for now. The poll, which was to take place on Sunday May 10, has been postponed to a later date, announced on Wednesday May 6 the leader of the ruling Law and Justice (PiS) party Jaroslaw Kaczynski and his ally Jaroslaw Gowin.

The president of the lower house will announce "the first possible date" for a new election, the two politicians added on Twitter.

The postponement of the presidential election due to the Covid-19 pandemic was demanded by the opposition.
