In cooperation with Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA) and Abu Dhabi International Medical Services, GE Healthcare provided the first computer tomography device in a fully isolated and independent unit outside the health care facilities in the country, in a step that strengthens efforts to combat the spread of the Covid-19 epidemic.

This equipment features innovative and advanced computer tomography solutions from General Electric Healthcare Corporation and helps diagnose viral pneumonia caused by Covid-19 disease.

Isolated and completely independent units are placed in temporary areas so that patients suspected of having "Covid-19" are examined without having to enter hospital facilities. This step ensures control of the epidemic and protection of health-care personnel working in the front lines within hospitals from the risk of infection .

Four computer tomography devices have been established in isolated units and specially assembled in the UAE. Two of them will be in Sheikh Khalifa Medical City and Al Ain Hospital and are expected to be operational this week.

Two additional devices will be installed in the special screening centers for "Covid-19" disease in Al Dhafra and Emirates Humanitarian City, and it is expected to start up them soon in the coming weeks.

The installation of these devices is a testament to the commitment of General Electric to support the efforts of the relevant health authorities in the United Arab Emirates to combat the spread of this epidemic as it enables a computer tomography device within an isolated unit of health care practitioners and doctors to perform pulmonary exams in less than a minute One is expected to conduct more than 100 checks a day.

The computer tomography devices in isolated units are completely independent with a complete filter system for heating, ventilation and air conditioning with a capacity of up to 90% of the air to ensure continuous purification and it is equipped with functional lights for UV sterilization. The sterilization of the unit takes about 5 minutes between each patient.
