The market of Little Holland, in Nantes, on March 21, 2020. - F.Brenon / 20Minutes

Banned since March 24, food markets are gradually reopening in many French municipalities. The city of Nantes in turn announces a resumption of its markets "taking into account the relative stabilization of the figures of the epidemic and the new orientations of the State in favor of the sector of producers".

The reopening will take place from Tuesday April 21 and will initially concern only eight outdoor markets: Jean-Macé, Bourgeonnière, Americans, Dervallières, Malakoff, Zola, Saint-Joseph-de-Porterie and Doulon. Despite its specificity (covered hall), the Talensac market could also partially open during the next week, indicates the city of Nantes.

Strict measures for customers and traders

Strict sanitary conditions will be put in place: limitation to 15 of the number of traders, one-way traffic between the aisles, access limited to one person per household, marking on the ground to respect distances…

As for the other outdoor markets, their reopening is only envisaged from the following week at the earliest. The reopening of the large market in Little Holland will probably be the last.
